Usually, there is no role for the Payment System in business-as-usual Dispute Initiation and Payment, disputes should be facilitated by the Platform but resumed bilaterally between participants.

The Payment System should eventually become involved in the Dispute Resolution process when either of the participants escalates the Dispute to the Scheme Operator. In this scenario, the decision of the Scheme will be final and applicable to both parties in the dispute.
